Eco-Friendly Gardening Solutions for your Personal Gardening Needs. Smart Gardens & Smart Compost Bins.

So someone shared this with me recently, and I think it is worth a mention. At a time when we all seem to be going back to "the way it was" . Growing our own vegetables, being accountable for what we consume. But not everyone has acres of land on which to do this. Greentech Life has created just the solution for the space constrained.
Bringing to you:

Smart Gardens

Details & Dimensions (not including frames) :
6ft by 4 ft depth 1 foot - weigh about a maximum of 25 kgs per square feet (with plants, veggies etc)
Plastic Frames - for covers/canopies - very strong and flexible.
So these neat little modular gardens are self watering, you just need to replenish the cylinders once a month. There are drainage pipes at 4 inches. What they have very smartly done is mirrored how a natural ground-water system works. Water collects at the base levels creating a water table, which only drains when it hits the 4 inch drainage level. Anything above that is pulled by roots and capillaries, in which case the top layer stays completely dry, this not only controls evaporation but also the top dry layer then acts as mulch. Water required in these Smart Gardens is only 20% of what you would normally end up using. These compact little set ups help you save up to 80% space from what you would require for conventional gardening.

The Greentech guys believe if your soil is healthy and you use practices like companion farming, succession cropping, lunar planting, you can make your plants healthy enough to fight most pests. So you don't need to use pesticides (including organic) all together.

Smart Gardens – Single Module

₹33,900.00

Smart Gardens – Double Module

₹67,800.00
These are quite pricey in my opinion. It makes more sense if once has very little time to devote to their gardening activities, including traveling quite often. As these allow you a certain amount of negligence without it costing your crop. But don't forget all the water you conserve by using these, hard to put a price on that.

But what I do think is totally worth your buck are these Smart Bins. Read on:

Smart Bins also by Greentech

Works in 2 stages.
(The information below is taken directly from their website - http://www.greentechlife.in/smartbin)
"Stage 1 - Food waste is thrown into these bins, just like you would in your regular kitchen’s dustbin. The difference is, we press the waste down with the bottom of a bowl to remove air gaps and sprinkle a teaspoon of Bio Bloom microbes (also available through us) and keep the lid closed at all times. Bio Bloom stops the waste from rotting and converts it to pickle (hence no smell). Each smartbin takes approximately 3 – 4 weeks to fill for a family of 4. Once full, they are kept aside for a couple of weeks to finish the pickling. While this is happening the second bin is started (Hence it comes as a set of two). Liquids are drained about twice a week through the taps.
In stage 2, that pickle is layered with dry compost you generated in previous batches through your smartbin. The first time of course, you’ll get it from a near by gardening store. This layering is done only once in a month or so and left in separate containers to cure for 3 – 4 weeks. You won’t have to touch it after that.  At the end of 3 – 4 weeks you have ready made, very high quality planting media, that your flowers & vegetable plants are going to love!"
